Rich Jacobs is an internationally acclaimed artist who has exhibited throughout the United States, Europe, Australia and Asia. Throughout the years, Jacobs' art has explored the existence of his art within both the realms of the figurative and abstract. Jacobs' work is an evolving exploration of his everyday observations and interactions with society and 'place'. His subject matter and content is inspired by common / everyday sights, occurrences and sounds. Jacobs' art focuses on the discovery of details through personal observation and interaction.
Jacobs' work has been reviewed in Raygun, Paper, NY Arts, Grand Royal, Stop Smiling, Urb, Flaunt, Juxtapoz, Powder, Gotham, Warp, Strength, Transworld Skateboarding and Arcane Candy, among others. He has also contributed in a variety of books including; "Broken Wrist Project" and "Genius". His work has also appeared on a broad range of media, from fashion products, print to skateboards. In addition, Jacobs has curated exhibitions all over the country [in particular his famous MOVE exhibitions] and has collaborated with renowned graffiti artists such as; Barry McGee, Dalek, Shepard Fairey, Ed Templeton, et al. on various projects.
The Move shows have broken ground in uniting the most vital artists of the young generation. Many have developed national and international reputations such as, Margaret Kilgallen, Barry McGee, Shepard Fairey, Chris Johanson, Thomas Campbell, Michelle Lockwood, Eric White and Chaz Bojoroquez.
Their aesthetic is marked by broken boundaries of street culture, skateboarding, illustration, graffiti action, photography, painting and drawing. Rich Jacobs has worked to tie these artists (from San Francisco, L.A., San Diego, Washington D.C., Orange County and New York City) into a powerful cohesive movement.
